"The project, submitted for the Young Architects Competition, is a piece of art by itself, embodying the essence of the Chinese philosophy of Taoism. It encourages self-reflection and harmony with the Tao, the fundamental principle underlying everything. The design takes shape through a reticular CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) structure that seamlessly integrates with the landscape of Weihai, Shandong, China. This coastal location informs the project's aesthetic, fostering a profound connection with nature.
Functioning as a museum, the architectural concept is not merely a structure but a piece of art with no reference. It is an innovative creation realized through a 70% mirrored and 30% translucent facade, facilitating a harmonious blend with the natural surroundings. This distinctive design not only reflects Taoist principles but also embraces sustainability by leaving a minimal footprint. By preserving 70% of the site in its natural state, the project embodies the Taoist ideals of balance and respect for nature."
